Admiral Richard H. Truly was an instructor at the U.S. Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School, Edwards Air Force Base, California from 1963-1965. In 1965 he became one of the first military astronauts for U.S. Air Force. He transferred to the NASA astronaut program in 1969.
