Admiral Richard H. Truly was an instructor at the U.S. Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School, Edwards Air Force Base, California from 1963-1965. In 1965 he became one of the first military astronauts for U.S. Air Force. He transferred to the NASA astronaut program in 1969. He served as capsule communicator for all three Skylab missions and worked on the Apollo-Soyuz mission in 1975. In 1977 he piloted the Space Shuttle Enterprise approach and landing tests.
